Checked all the data I could find on the Canon xti and the Nikon D40x.It seemed to me the cameras were about the same, with the Nikon having the edge on lens quality and the spot meter which I have always liked. My next step was to try them on for size, so I went to my local Sam's Club. To me, the Nikon felt much better in my hands. You should try the same test, after all you are spending a fair amount of money and probably intending to keep the camera for awhile. In the past, I have owned both Nikon and Canon cameras, and usually judge them about the same. I would strongly suggest that you purchase the 55mm-200 lens for this camera. After owning this camera for about two months I would tell you I am very satisfied with it in every way, picture quality, weight, feel, and performance. The only way I would recommend the Canon xti is if you already have Canon lenses that are compatible with it. The older Nikon lenses are not compatible on the d40x. This Flash Speedlite, has TTL function, is designed for Nikon Camera, fits for most of Nikon DSLR Camera. two main modes: TTL and M mode:

TTL mode, the metering system of this camera will detect flash illumination reflected back from the object so as to automatically control flash output in this mode. When takeing photos, you only require aiming at some scene and press the shutter after focusing, the light will give proper light as per tips and then you can get your desired photo. (This mode only compatible with Nikon i-TTl mode)

M mode can set flash luminance as desired, luminance level will be displayed by indicator. When taking photos, you only require setting the flash luminance, adjust the camera and press the shutter, the flash light will flash under the camera synchronous signal.

My Nikon D40

My Nikon D40 Video Clips. Duration : 2.17 Mins.

This is an upped Nikon D40, I would have likely gone with the D40X with more megapixels but I got this one. Your looking at a total of 900 CND how its suited up. 400 for the camera. 250 for the lens 100 for the Targus Battery Grip and 150 for the flash. Just under 1000. I think this camera looks really pro. I would like to eventually get the D90, but I cant afford it right now. The camera alone is worth around the same price as mine after all the addons enjoy.
